What Is The Cost?

This is one of the first questions asked when potential candidates contact RiderTraining, and rightly so! Depending on the particular course that your enquiry relates to, we will talk through the costing of the course & explain why there are varying prices between us and other training schools.

Why Is Another School Cheaper?

This is usually because you will not be trained by a fully qualified DVSA instructor but a 'down-trained' instructor (one who is in training themselves) and should be assessed and closely monitored by the school!

What Do You Supply?

• Clean riding equipment & Up to date motorcycles, maintained to the highest standards.

Some schools are still well behind with there equipment, poor quality radios, old helmets and clothing machines! At Ridertraining we are investing all the time in our up to date equipment.

At Ridertraining you will trained and supervised by fully-qualified D.V.S.A Driving Vehicle Standards Agency motorcycle instructors Who are check tested to the highest standards by the DVSA.

We also keep ourselves up to date with the latest teaching methods to help pass on to our candidates. On top of these qualifications, RiderTraining North West's owner Kevin holds the prestigious "Master Rider with Distinction" award from the I.A.M (Institute of Advanced Motorists) We have a wealth of knowledge from many years of motorcycling for our own enjoyment and are passionate about biking in all areas.

So hopefully you can see why there are some differences in our pricing compared to other riding schools. Give us a call today to book your rider training!

The A2 Restricted licence allows riders aged 19 or over to ride up to a medium sized motorcycle as long as it is restricted to 47 b.h.p (35 kW) and has a power-to-weight ratio of not more than 0.2 kW per kg.

The bike must not be derived from a vehicle more than twice its power. You must complete CBT (which you can do as part of an intensive course), a motorcycle theory test and take both practical tests, Module 1 and Module 2 on a bike restricted to 47 b.h.p.

Here are a few useful videos detailing what happens during your Module 1 & Module 2 tests:

Training Courses

Our training courses are put together to suit you, the individual, depending on the level of experience you already have, and all courses can be done in a block of consecutive days or split up and spread over a longer period. Many people find that spreading the training over a longer period allows them to carry on with minimal disruption to their normal routine.

A typical "Novice rider" course consists of:

  • CBT on day one, we can access  your riding capability.
  • Second day going over the basics of machine control, practicing for the module one slow riding section and the higher speed section, road riding routines and techniques.
  • Days three and four would see you out on the road again. A run out to the test center learning the routes for the module 2, practising and perfecting machine control and road craft.

Throughout the course you will obviously be working towards getting ready to pass the practical test. The test will usually take place on the fifth day,or possibly sooner! Usually first thing in the morning, but it can be arranged at other times if required, for example at the end of the final day's training.

Please note: training for the theory test is not a part of our practical courses, see our theory training and test page for further information.

Booking Your Course

There is no substitute for experience and adequate preparation when it comes to passing the test and riding safely on the road: when selecting and booking a training course be realistic about your current level of riding ability. Remember if you fail the test because you weren't ready for it, it will work out to be more expensive in the long run.

What's Included

Our Prices include on road training, radio communications, bike hire, fuel & insurance, Safety helmet & Gloves. Protective clothing.

We offer split courses over weekdays and weekends to help spread the cost and help with work commitments. Daily rates are also available if you require to spread the commitment and cost over a period of several weeks or even months.

When you pass your test on a 125cc motorcycle you will be restricted to a motorcycle with a power output of no more than 11KW (15BHP). If you are 19+ you could do the 'A2' licence which restricts you to 35KW (47BHP). If you're 24+ (or 21+ with an 'A2' licence) you can do the 'A' licence which will allow you to ride any bike of any cc.
